Yay, now it's time to browse the racks of Silk Row Bridal while sipping bubbly & say 'Yes' to your dream dress! In this blog we will break down our most asked questions about timelines when shopping for your wedding dress. Let's get into it!
When is the best time to start shopping for my wedding dress?
This is a question we get asked ALL the time & rightfully so! Shopping for a wedding dress isn't like any other piece of clothing you would normally be shopping for.
Short answer - 12 months before your wedding date. Let's elaborate, when we say start shopping for your wedding dress a year before your date, this means be ready to say "Yes". It is common to come in to your very first bridal shopping experience & find 'The One', don't get in your head about this, when you know you know! To be prepared to shop & say yes to your dream dress we suggest doing your research on the designers you love, boutiques that fit your style & vibe and set your budget.
If you're a little surprised that we suggest shopping at least 1 year out from your wedding, you're not alone! All of our designers produce made-to-order gowns which can take anywhere from 4 - 6 months to complete. We also have to factor in shipping times & alterations.
How much time should I set aside for alterations?
Yes, your dress will need alterations! Made-to-order gowns are not custom made to your measurements which means, we find the best size for you based on your body measurements & comparing it to the designers size chart, although we will order the size best suited to you, there will still be adjustments to give you the best possible fit!
Each seamstress will have a bit of a different timeline so we suggest reaching out to your preferred seamstress as soon as you have your dress in hand!
Typically, alterations will take approximately 3 months & it's always nice to have a little peace of mind that your dress is all ready to go before the big day, so plan accordingly!
What if I don't have a year before my wedding?
Don't worry babe, our designers are amazing and can rush dresses for delivery as quickly as 8 weeks! There are fee's involved in rushing a dress, but anything for 'The One' right?!?
We also keep a great selection of off-the-rack bridal wear & sample sale gowns on hand at all times! You can walk in, try on, say YES & walk out with your gown - it doesn't get much faster than that!
